TOMATOES!
See look, I didn’t even keep you in suspense, I’m just too excited about those glorious red homegrown little pieces of heaven. I love to eat them fresh, I love to make pasta sauce and freeze it, I love to give them out to neighbors and friends. I just love them.
My daughter has her very own cherry plant that she gets to snack from anytime she wants, and it’s her absolute favorite, too. (It’s in her genes)
I start seedlings, I buy babies from the nursery, and I always plant too many. I try out new trellis types and tomato cages all the time, and still haven’t quite found a perfect one for me. I might go grapevine style next year across the bed.
Oh, and when I remember there is extra space in the chicken pen, I plant them back there too for the gals to free range on. They wait until they turn red, and then gobble them all up. It’s perfect.
